The Ross Revenge battles for survival in the North Sea gales, the ship looses its anchorage and drifts onto the Goodwin Sands, all on board are in great danger. Finally rescued by helicopter, the crew on board & Dj's, recall how they were air-lifted off plus the the helicopter pilots account. Various news reports as the drama unfolded, footage of the high waves pounding the Ross Revenge, the storm was reported to have been Force 10.

Neil Gates takes us round the ship and explains in detail the effects of the storm (including the broken anchor chain) also the damage from the Dutch raid, a unique sight for all after eight years at sea.
Interview with Steve Conway on the future of Caroline, how they can survive and continue to broadcast.
The Ross is moved to another berth in Dover, travel on board the Ross as the Tug 'Dextrous' which was involved in the salvage operation, along with the Tug 'Delf' move the ship to its new berth.

THE RAID ON ROSS REVENGE - DVD
The events prior to, during and after the raid on the Radio Caroline ship 'The Ross Revenge', Saturday 19th August 1989.
The ferry Olau Britannia passes close to the Ross, the crew spot the Greenpeace Ship 'Rainbow Warier' nearby Bruce Munroe and Steve Kennedy have a friendly chat via marine radio, and all seems OK on the Ross.
See the arrival of the DTI vessel the Landward; it's the day before the raid. They instruct the crew to leave the ship & stop transmitting. Their demands are refused, they move off.
The very next day 'The Volan's' arrives, ties up along side 'The Ross Revenge'; the crew are overwhelmed by the numbers coming on board & is savagely plundered. See footage of 'The Volen's' and its crew boarding the ship as the raid is taking place. Bruce Munroe gives an account of the situation from the deck of the Ross.
Work starts on returning Caroline to the air with the dismantling of the front & rear masts, see the remains of the 558 studio, the record library and transmitters.
Dave Richards give us an in depth tour of the Ross Revenge as it was left by the Dutch DTI plus the work that was in progress to resume Caroline's return.
See many of the crew relaxing on the deck, sunbathing, fishing, and taking a swim in the North Sea.

Introduced by Johnnie Walker, he takes a look back at the early days of British Radio and focuses on the start of offshore broadcasting in the UK. Ronan O'Rahilly comments on what the BBC had to offer then Alan Freeman introduces Pick of the Pops.
The start of Radio Caroline on over the Easter of 1994. Early scenes from the Mi Amigo and the grounding off Frinton beach. Simon Dee talks of his time aboard live from the studio.
A look back at some of the other offshore stations operating at that time with features and events surrounding the fort based stations. Profiled is the emergence of a new sound to the British Isles Swinging Radio England.
As midnight approaches, Johnnie Walker makes his lament to an estimated audience of twenty million the story follows a journey up the Thames to the Houses of Parliament, Big Ben etc.
Ronan O'Rahilly gives his views on Caroline, Johnnie Walker talks of his days on the ships, with his views on the BBCs early attempt at Pop radio. Radio One goes on air, comment is also made by Tony Blackburn, Andy Archer & others on some of their Pirate memories.

DVD 2 - THREE DECADES OF OFFSHORE RADIO
ANTHOLOGY II
Featured are the Offshore Stations that operated from early 1970 until the 1990s. Included are the stations RNI, Laser and Caroline, observation & comment of many of the events that took place surrounding these radio broadcasts.
RNI starts transmitting as attention is again heightened on offshore broadcasting; visits are made to the Mebo II to investigate this powerful new radio station.
RNI is jammed and is forced to change frequency, hear the announcements by the broadcaster.
The fire aboard the Mebo II, its distress calls and the aftermath.
In 1980 the Mi Amigo sinks, again there is great attention of this major event in offshore history.
Caroline returns three years later with a new ship and Offshore Radio is back again. Features aboard the Ross Revenge, as Caroline returns to the airwaves.
A new broadcaster enters the North Sea; Laser has a massive reaction to both listeners and media. Many events involving this station, until the Communicator is escorted back into harbour after power problems.
Caroline continues, and they switch frequency to 558 kHz good times are on the Ross Revenge, until a force 10 storm hits the North Sea. Suddenly the mast collapes in the night and the crew fear the worst, see the damage the next day.
The Government step up action to stop the broadcasts but its a Dutch Tug that raids the Ross Revenge and takes the station off the air.
As legislation is tightened Caroline struggles to continue, the ship whilst off air drags its anchor and grounds off the Kent coast.
Offshore Radio continues with the first Legal Offshore broadcast off the Kent coast.
Caroline prepares for their first Legal broadcast in Dover from the Ross Revenge.
Finally the Ross Revenge is being restored to its former glory, and sightseers have the opportunity to experience the phenomenon that is Caroline.

DVD 1 - The Story of a Legend
This Compilation movie incorporates vintage footage of the Second World War minesweeper being converted to a radio ship, the m.v. Galaxy leaving for the UK. See her voyage as Radio London enters the North Sea for the first time. As the station emerges as the number one choice in UK radio the film shows an insight into life on board the radio ship at that time. The government's reaction to the pirate stations is observed along with other problems encountered with the pirates. Big L sadly has to close, interviews with some involved at that time and the last moments of Radio London on air.
Footage is for the most part B/W with some early Colour scenes; this material has been edited & compiled for enthusiasts and historical purposes only.
Included is the film 'Big L at sea' promoted on the station in 1967, you see the tender arrive with John Peel about to board the Galaxy. Mark Roman hands over his show to Pete Drummond and then returns to his cabin. Mitch serves up the meals for all the jocks in the mess room. Paul Kaye reads one of his news reports from studio 2. The DJ's seen on board include Willie Walker, Tony Brandon, John Peel, Paul Kaye, Mark Roman & Pete Drummond.
This movie, was originally filmed on Cine 8, although digitally remastered, it shows some deterioration of colour but still interesting footage, it was promoted towards the end of its broadcasts. The soundtrack includes many original jingles with narration by Mark Roman.
DVD 2 - This DVD features the 60's most successful Offshore Radio Station - Radio London. This now narrated film was originally made on cine, its origins are not known but much was taken on the tenders with the DJs at that time.
What's even more incredible is that people like Keith Skues and Stewpot, who appear in it many times, cannot recall the identity of the person behind the camera!The film taken around 1966 shows tenders arrivals and departures, shots of the studio, DJ's on deck, and the M.V Galaxy Radio Ship. The Cheeta II, is seen at sea and some footage of the "Laissez Faire" from which "Swinging Radio England" and "Britain Radio" broadcast. There is also the promotional film of Radio London taken in 1967; this features DJ's, Mark Roman, Willie Walker, Paul Kaye & John Peel.

DVD 1 - This DVD features 3 fascinatings films on the history of offshore radio in the UK. The World in Action team investigates the begininnings of the pirates in 1964, then again in 67.

Suddenly the weather turns from calm and tranquil to wild and ferocious and it's that night the 300ft mast collapsed in a force ten gale.
The camera is running as the tower collapses, hear the mast crashing as the crew are shocked and panicked by what was happening.
In first light of dawn, the full extent of the damage is seen and the extensive problems faced by the Caroline organization in getting the station back on air. See how they managed to return to the airwave again despite some real problems.
